Have you ever pet a fox? Noah has.
As we were strolling along the piers in San Francisco we were surprised to see a fox on a leash. The fox was bred in Russia as a result of an experiment to isolate tame and domesticated behavior. This same experimental program was also used to breed an ultra aggressive fox... so I guess they have an advantage in the animal warfare department.
We did manage to venture outside of the Fisherman's Warf, but only once which is unfortunate because I know we missed a lot and we regret not going to the "Mission" area which is where the good food is... or so we were told. During our time we did walk to the Haight-Ashbury area which gets its fame from the 60's. Back in the day a lot of musicians lived in this area, but if you ask different people on exactly which houses they lived in you are likely to get different answers. Either way, these folks lived somewhere around here; Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, The Greatful Dead, Jefferson Airplane, Gram Nash, Sid Vicious, Allen Ginsberg, Anne Rice and (unfortunately) Charles Manson and Patty Hearst.
Nowadays this area has a bunch of hippie shops, co-ops, coffee shops and guitars stores (at which I stopped and played a Jimi tune on an acoustic, because.... well it seemed appropriate). We picked up some organic raw milk cheeses and artisan pepperoni from the co-op, seen in the photo next to the Hendrix mural, to rejuvenate us from the long walk.
Ahh the walk, I suppose you've heard of the hills in San Francisco... well they are no joke.
On our last day in San Francisco we went to the Aquarium of the Bay, which is retrospect was over priced for it's small size ($22/person) but did have an aquarium tunnel.
On our trip home we had an overnight layover, which isn't so bad when it's in Hawaii. We had a day to walk around Waikiki and enjoy the perfect weather. We found great breakfast place in Waikiki called Goofy's, they use organic ingredients (when available) and have a cool atmosphere (no Disney affiliation).
We made a pit stop at a City playground and Noah ran free for a while and never stopped smiling!
NOAH NEWS: Nothing really, he's just adorable so here are a couple more pictures.
